New Jersey Mailing Industry Strikes Gold
Piscataway, NJ – U.S. Postal Service Chief Marketing Officer Nagisa Manabe presented the Greater New Jersey Postal Customer Council (PCC) with a prestigious 2013 National Gold Level Premier Award at a meeting of mailing industry professionals on Sept. 16 at Rutgers University’s Busch Campus Center in Piscataway. Accepting the award were Greater NJ PCC Industry Co-Chair / Canon Business Process Services National Operations Manager Jim Mullan and Greater NJ PCC Postal Co-Chair / USPS Northern NJ District Manager Priscilla Maney. The award recognized the local PCC chapter for their demonstrated commitment and superior contributions to the mailing industry.
PCCs are groups of mailing industry leaders and senior postal managers who meet regularly to exchange mutually beneficial ideas. The PCC program establishes an effective platform for an ongoing dialogue between the USPS and its mailing industry customers. Introduced in 1961, the PCC network today has more than 200 groups with more than 100,000 members nationwide. The award–winning Greater New Jersey PCC boasts a membership of 200.
During National PCC Week, Sept. 16-20, Postal Service and mailing industry professionals held meetings across the country to exchange ideas and viewpoints guided by a theme of Innovating Together. Greater NJ PCC Executive Board Member Bob Spadaro, a Rutgers Alumni, opened the meeting at Rutgers by leading attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance. Spadaro introduced the Queens Chorale, an all-female Rutgers student choir who sung: the Star Spangled Banner, the Rutgers Alma Mater, and several other selections.
After the PCC members visited the exhibitors and the Postal Service consultation booths, Mr. Spadaro thanked Universal Mailing Services for their sponsorship and introduced their Business Development Director Jim Lombard. Mr. Lombard talked about his company and the importance of participating in the PCC program.
Greater NJ PCC Industry Co-Chair / Canon Business Process Services National Operations Manager Jim Mullan and Greater NJ PCC Postal Co-Chair / USPS Northern NJ District Manager Priscilla Maney thanked the attendees, sponsors, exhibitors, and the Greater NJ PCC Executive Board for their support.
Ms. Manabe’s presentation included a review of the key USPS strategic marketing initiatives. She showed a special video featuring Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe, Chief Operating Officer Megan Brennan, and Deputy Postmaster General Ronald Strohman extoling the values of the PCC program and their optimistic outlook for the future of the Postal Service and the mailing industry. She concluded her remarks by presenting the Gold Award to Mullan and Maney.
